How It Works
interventions.
1. Identify Challenges
We analyze public health data and community needs to identify critical gaps in social determinants / drivers of health, such as housing, food security, economic opportunity, and access to care.
2. Design Solutions
Using systems-level thinking, we design innovative interventions that address root causes rather than symptoms. Our solutions are built with dignity and community input at the center.
3. Build & Launch
We build and support products and ventures that implement these solutions, whether through technology platforms, strategic partnerships, or new organizational models that can scale impact.
4. Scale Impact
We measure outcomes rigorously and iterate based on evidence. Successful interventions are scaled to reach more communities, preventing crises before they occur.
Upstream Prevention
The concept of “upstream” prevention comes from a parable: If people are drowning in a river, we can either pull them out one by one (downstream intervention) or walk upstream to prevent them from falling in (upstream prevention).
At Skyler Madelyn, we focus on the upstream by addressing the social, economic, and environmental factors that determine health outcomes before crises occur. This approach is more effective, more humane, and creates lasting change for communities.
